Chagford florist Alice Herrington has won a gold medal at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show winning the Young Florist of the Year.
Alice, who runs Amy’s Flowers on the High Street in Chagford, won her gold medal for her design on the theme of the 200-year anniversary of the birth of Queen Victoria in 1819.
Alice said: “For the first time the four judges decided to award four gold medals as they felt the standard of the entries was so high. Each of us was given an envelope which I opened, and I could see the gold medal on the card. I was really shocked; it was an incredible experience. It was a good end to a busy week at the show, so mum and I celebrated with a very expensive glass of Pimms.”
Alice was representing Bicton College where she studied and completed her level 2-3 and 4 National Diploma in floral design and will be taking her Level 5 Masters in floristry in September.
