Residents of Princetown and the surrounding high moorlands awoke this morning to a blanket of fresh snow, transforming the village into a picturesque winter scene.
The usually rugged granite of Dartmoor softened under a dusting of white, and the air held the hush of early morning snowfall.
High-ground roads leading into and around Princetown were reported icy in places, prompting warnings for motorists to take care.

The village, one of the highest in the UK, often experiences more severe winter conditions than nearby lowland areas.
While the moor’s iconic tors and gritstone outcrops looked especially serene in the snow, some travel routes became treacherous.
In previous snow events, bus services in and out of Princetown have been cancelled and school closures imposed.
This morning, Princetown Community Primary School confirmed a partial closure, with a delayed opening until 10am due to the snow and icy conditions.
Devon County Council’s winter maintenance teams had already been out this week, continuing gritting operations on key routes.
Their efforts came as the Met Office issued a yellow warning for snow and ice, cautioning of possible travel disruption.
Despite the challenges, locals ventured out on their ways to work and made the most of the snow’s beauty.
