A valuable gold and enamel miniature picture has been stolen from the Devon Guild of Craftsmen in Bovey Tracey after a locked display case was prised open in broad daylight.
A police CID spokesman said: “the piece is 18 carat gold and measures 128mm x 78mm and is of high value.”
A spokesman for the Guild said: “The exhibition contained a small number of unusually high value items. The thief forced open the top corner of the cabinet holding fourteen commissioned gold and enamel miniatures.
‘The thief reached past four other pieces to take the one they wanted, leaving the cabinet looking untouched.”
The theft took place between 11.30am and 1.30 pm on Friday 6th April.
