2021 marks 25 years since St Petrock’s (Exeter’s charity for people who are homeless) first opened its doors.
Sadly, homelessness remains a serious issue in our county and following a year of global upheaval, the need for community involvement in assisting those affected is more urgent
To mark the anniversary, St Petrock’s is running a 25 Year Anniversary Campaign to provide supporters with a range of simple steps that they can take to help people gain the extra support they need to move away from homelessness.
Lucy Patrick has decided to support this campaign by climbing 25 tors before Easter and is asking people to sponsor her. The purpose of her personal challenge is to ‘flag up’ the ongoing issue of homelessness by unfurling a yellow cloth on the top of each tor and to raise money for the much needed services provided by St Petrock’s.
The selection of which tors to climb has been made by drawing a heart shape on a map of Dartmoor and trying to reach the tors situated on the heart. Unfortunately, government restrictions mean that she is unable to travel to the furthest rocks but she is focusing on those nearer home (in the centre of the heart).
Thanks to the huge generosity of the community, she has already raised £1,695 for the charity which is so close to her heart.
People can sponsor her through her Virgin Money Giving Page
