The fourth Mini Music Day for young musicians under 18 years of age took place on Sunday 6th May in the Horse in Moretonhampstead and was a resounding success.

Over 100 young musicians from all over Dartmoor and beyond performed to a packed audience from soloists, duos, bands and choirs – covering genres of classical, jazz, folk, choral, rock and pop.

Not only did the performers enjoy the day but so did the large audience who filled The Horse from midday to 10.30pm.

Over £800 was raised jointly for MS Society and Friends of Moretonhampstead Primary School from a raffle thanks to some fantastic donations by local businesses.

Two of the acts have been selected to play at Moreton Music Day taking place on Sunday 24th June.

The headline act of the evening – Ethyrfield – not only inspired the younger musicians but they also reminded us that although this was an under 18 event we were listening to some of the best live music you could hear anywhere.

They brought out the inner rocker of many an audience member.

Mini Music Day will be back in 2019.
