Babbacombe Theatre celebrates 40 Years with new variety show

Torquay’s Babbacombe Theatre is celebrating a major milestone in 2026 with the launch of CELEBRATION, a brand-new variety production honouring 40 years of creative leadership from acclaimed producer and director Colin Matthews.

The show runs on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 17 February to 14 October, with a special matinee on 12 August. CELEBRATION brings together the very best of live entertainment, combining musical theatre favourites, pop classics, cinematic soundtracks and classic comedy in the theatre’s much-loved variety style.

Headlining the production is Comedy Excellence Award winner Steve Laister, known for his sharp humour, dynamic vocals and high-energy performances. British Magical Champion of Illusion Daniel Dean joins as a special guest, delivering visually stunning magic and stage charisma.

The musical heart of the show features Lorna Amy Sullivan, Paul Cobley and Claire Waring, while the Danze Chique dance company, choreographed by Lucy O’Neill, adds high-energy movement. General Manager Sharon Waring’s costume designs and the ever-popular junior cast Kidz & Co complete the production, bringing charm and spectacle to every performance.

CELEBRATION is more than just a show - it’s a tribute to four decades of creativity, moments and memories that have shaped Babbacombe Theatre under Colin Matthews.
