The eyesore Paignton seafront former Inn on the Green complex could be transformed into a new conference facility by the owners of two new hotels next door.
Plans for the ‘Paignton Pavilion’ are being unveiled later this month at an exhibition and consultation event in the resort.
Local people will have a chance to have their say on the proposals put forward by the Fragrance Group, owners of the site at the former Inn on the Green, which closed in September 2024.

The property developer has already ploughed millions of pounds into improvements to the tourist facilities on Paignton seafront with the successful development of the Mercure and Ibis Styles hotels.
Fragrance, owned by Singapore-based billionaire Koh Wee Meng, has also just opened Hotel Indigo on the site of the former Corbyn Head Hotel on the main Torquay to Paignton seafront road.
The consultation on the next phase of its plans for the boarded up Inn on the Green takes place on Tuesday March 10 at Deller’s Café at the Ibis Styles Hotel on Esplanade Road in Paignton between 4pm and 7.30pm with all welcome.
Fragrance have revealed that the Inn on the Green site had been considered for car parking but proposals for the construction of a new conference centre and associated facilities have now been drawn up, “in keeping with the broader aims of the English Riviera Destination Management Plan”.
The strategic plan sets out where the tourism and hospitality sector looks to be in five to 10 years time and is currently being reviewed.
Business from conferences and events is being seen as an opportunity for the industry moving forward but better and more facilities are needed.
Martin Rogers, the Fragrance Group’s UK representative, said: “As long-standing global developers of hotels and facilities for visitors we believe Paignton has great potential and we are keen to continue the work already undertaken on the seafront.
“It is so important to gain the views of local people and we’re hoping as many as possible will come along to the event to see what is proposed and share their views.”
The proposals will also be available to view online at www.paignton-pavilion.co.uk once the exhibition has opened.
