Torquay’s popular seafront restaurant, The Bay, has officially closed, with its final day of operation on March 1, 2026.

The closure marks the end of a chapter for the venue, which has become known for its exceptional dining experience, breathtaking views over Torbay, and relaxed, coastal charm.

In a statement, the team at The Bay said: “It is with a heavy heart that we announce The Bay has officially closed its doors. The UK’s current hospitality sector has put pressure on all businesses from suppliers to consumers, and the numbers simply no longer add up for an independent business like ours to sustainably operate.”

The restaurant’s current iteration dates from August 8, 2024, when it reopened under new ownership and management by entrepreneur Lewis Poulier, following a period of refurbishment and sale.

The venue featured a ground floor seating over 50 guests, alfresco dining for more than 50 patrons, and a first-floor private function room ideal for special events.

The sale of The Bay to Mr Poulier was handled by agents Charles Darrow. James Sanders, Associate Director at Charles Darrow, said: “The Bay has an exceptional pitch overlooking Torbay, and sites of this nature seldom become available, especially of this quality and high level of fittings within - hence the level of interest received while marketing, and the robust purchase price achieved.”

During his ownership, Mr Poulier had assembled a team of local managers and chefs, poised to elevate The Bay’s offerings while maintaining the high standards patrons had come to expect.

For booking deposits or enquiries, the restaurant asked customers to email info@thebaytorquay.co.uk.
