An exciting and thought-provoking exhibition is set to captivate the residents of Okehampton this May as The Loving Earth Project arrives in town.
Hosted by Immersion in the heart of the town centre, this art exhibition promises a unique and immersive experience for all attendees, and best of all, it's free to view.
The Loving Earth Project features 50 intricate textile panels, alongside inspiring books and optional virtual reality experiences for a small fee.
Visitors can delve into imaginings of the future, explore the wonders of nature, and engage in climate exploration to find inspiration and motivation for positive action.
Organisers said: “Accessible to all we look forward to welcoming you.”
One highlight of the exhibition is the collaboration with the National Marine Aquarium, which will host an immersive virtual reality outreach session on Tuesday, May 28.
Attendees will have the chance to dive into the aquarium and explore the wonders of our seas like never before.
The Loving Earth Project, initiated by a group of Quakers in 2019, quickly gained momentum and involvement from a diverse range of individuals and community groups.
The project aims to foster dialogue, learning, and action around environmental issues, inviting people of all ages and backgrounds to participate.
With over 400 textile panels created worldwide, Devon has now become a permanent home to 50 of these inspiring works of art.
The project encourages attendees to consider questions such as their impact on the environment and what actions they can take to contribute to climate harmony.
“Okehampton is making waves in climate change work with community groups, do check them out, email for details and we look forward to welcoming you,” said the organisers.
The Loving Earth Project exhibition will take place at Immersion, located at 40 Fore Street, Okehampton, Devon EX20 1HB.
The launch is on May 24 at 7pm then May 25-31 at 11am-5pm daily.
