Historic White Hart Hotel in Moretonhampstead returns with modern upgrades and a packed events calendar

Moorland hotel reopens after major refurbishment

The hotel is now open

The historic White Hart Hotel, a Georgian gem located in the heart of Moretonhampstead, has reopened its doors following an extensive half-million-pound refurbishment.

The 250-year-old establishment now offers a blend of traditional charm and modern luxury, marking its return as a prime destination for visitors exploring Dartmoor National Park.

Under new ownership, the Jackson family, known for their management of the renowned Jamaica Inn on Bodmin Moor, took over the White Hart Hotel in February.

Since then, they’ve undertaken a meticulous renovation of the 28-room hotel, ensuring that while modern comforts were added, the building’s rich history was carefully preserved.

The refurbished bars, restaurant, kitchen, courtyard, and communal spaces offer warmth and character, attracting guests who seek a unique retreat in one of England’s most picturesque regions.

James Jackson, along with his partner, Hannah Chester, is at the helm of the hotel’s new management team, committed to providing guests with an unforgettable stay.

Whether holidaymakers are in search of adventure among Devon’s beaches and rugged landscapes or simply a peaceful countryside getaway, the White Hart offers an ideal base.

The restaurant offers traditional English cuisine seven days a week, with their Sunday Roast already proving to be a local favourite.

Beyond dining, the hotel’s function space is versatile enough to host weddings, events, and community gatherings, ensuring the hotel remains a vibrant hub in Moretonhampstead.

This autumn, the hotel will be offering a wide range of events, with their events calendar packed with exciting activities.

This ranges from murder mysteries and live music performances by local band The Dockneys, to themed nights like tapas and drag shows.

Monthly quizzes, board game evenings, Halloween celebrations for both children and adults, a Guy Fawkes party, and a festive December line-up, including a three-night Christmas package and a New Year's Eve dinner and dance, promise something for everyone.
