Ivybridge gets new electric vehicle charging hub

Osprey Charging Network strengthens EV infrastructure in Devon

Ivybridge has become the latest location in Devon to benefit from a new electric vehicle (EV) charging hub, with Osprey Charging opening a rapid charging station at The Countryman’s Choice Farm Shop and Restaurant.

The hub, located along the A38, features eight 300kW chargers, designed to provide up to 100 miles of range in just 15-20 minutes, depending on the vehicle model.

This new addition aims to support local residents, businesses, and visitors, offering a convenient spot for drivers to recharge while in the area.

The chargers at The Countryman’s Choice are compatible with all EVs on the market and accept multiple payment methods, including contactless cards, Apple/Google Pay, the Osprey App, and RFID cards.

The network is known for its reliability, with a 99 per cent uptime rate and a reputation for offering easy-to-use charging stations across the country.

Ian Johnston, CEO of Osprey Charging, said: “The roll-out of EV charging facilities is quickly gathering pace and we’re here to provide a reliable and rapid public charging service for all drivers, from Cornwall to the Scottish Highlands. Osprey now has over 1,250 charging bays available in convenient locations across the UK, carefully designed to maximise space and ease of use. The two new charging hubs in Devon form a vital part of the re-charging network that will enable the decarbonisation of transport in the UK.”

This new hub comes as the demand for electric vehicle charging infrastructure grows ahead of the 2035 ban on new petrol and diesel vehicles.

With the rise in EV uptake, the Ivybridge hub is expected to support the region’s transition towards greener transport, improve local air quality, and provide a boost for the local economy.

Powered by renewable energy, the charging station is part of Osprey’s wider strategy to expand its network of sustainable and accessible charging facilities across the UK.

The new hub in Ivybridge follows the launch of Osprey's award-winning Salmon’s Leap super-hub in Buckfastleigh and continues to improve charging availability for EV drivers in Devon.
