The Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra’s string ensemble will perform in Bovey Tracey on Thursday 1 May as part of its On Your Doorstep spring tour.
The concert, titled Musical Families, will take place at 7.30pm at St Peter, St Paul & St Thomas Church. It is presented in partnership with Bovey Paradiso Arts and Villages in Action.
Audience members are invited to attend a prosecco and canapé reception ahead of the performance. The evening’s programme includes Jessie Montgomery’s Starburst, Holst’s St Paul’s Suite, Karl Jenkins’ Palladio, Coleridge-Taylor’s Novelletten, and Gershwin’s Lullaby.
The ensemble will explore the diversity of the string family through a selection of classical and contemporary works.
The performance is part of the orchestra’s initiative to bring live music to rural communities across the South West.
Richard Bull, speaking on behalf of Bovey Paradiso Arts, said: “Bovey Paradiso Arts, working in close partnership with Villages in Action, are delighted to be welcoming Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra to our beautiful town. Our venue, St Peter, Paul & Thomas Church, will be a stunning backdrop to what we expect will be a wonderful evening.”
