Sparkworld's Big Bake event in 2016
To mark its 40th anniversary, local home appliance retailer Sparkworld is once again donning its apron for Rowcroft Hospice’s Big Bake, returning to the charity bake off for the first time since 2016. That year, Sparkworld raised over £2,000 to support South Devon families living with life limiting illnesses.
This year’s Big Bake takes place on Wednesday, 4th June, from 4:30pm to 6:30pm, in Sparkworld’s state of the art kitchen showroom at Heathfield Industrial Estate, Newton Abbot. The event will feature:
A bake off competition, judged by Tom Dalton (Quantum Kitchens), Chloe Howard (Chloe Bakes, Ashburton), and Lisa Whittaker (Rowcroft Hospice).
A raffle stocked with prizes donated by Liebherr, Bosch, Sony, Ninja, LG and more. Tickets are on sale now at sparkworld.co.uk.
A £1,500 NEFF appliance bundle for the bake off champion.
Sparkworld Director Tristan Cook, a Torquay native, said the hospice holds a special place in the community: “Rowcroft provides exceptional care when families need it most. With three quarters of their funding coming from donations, community events like our Big Bake are vital. I once did a skydive for Rowcroft; these days, I’d rather eat cake than jump out of a plane!”
Rowcroft’s Corporate Fundraiser Lisa Whittaker thanked Sparkworld for their support: “We’re incredibly grateful. The funds raised will directly benefit local families facing the hardest of times. With World Baking Day on 17th May, it’s the perfect moment for everyone to host their own Big Bake, whether a coffee morning, garden tea party, or office bake sale, and raise vital funds.”
Rowcroft Hospice’s Big Bake is a nationwide campaign encouraging individuals and businesses to host bake offs and cake sales. To join in or find out more, visit rowcrofthospice.org.uk/big-bake
