A vehicle fire this morning (May 28) on Exeter Road in Okehampton has led to temporary traffic lights being installed due to damage caused by the blaze.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue confirmed to The Moorlander that at approximately 9.52am, crews were mobilised to a van towing a trailer with a mini digger that was fully involved in fire.
Temporary traffic lights have been set up on the B3260 Exeter Road to manage traffic following damage from the incident.
Devon Alert issued a warning on X (formerly Twitter) advising road users to “expect delays in the area.”
After extinguishing the fire and damping down remaining hotspots, the fire service handed the scene over to National Highways at 11.44am.
A spokesperson for Devon County Council said: “The road surface has been damaged by the vehicle fire and temporary traffic lights will remain in place until emergency repairs can be carried out.”
