Devon and Cornwall Police are set to host their first Multi-Agency Day later this month, bringing together emergency services, volunteers, and community organisations for a day of public engagement, education, and collaboration.
The event will take place on Saturday, 21 June, from 10am to 4pm in Bedford Square and the adjacent Guildhall Car Park in Tavistock.
Designed to bring emergency services and partners together, the event will showcase how different organisations work side by side to support local communities.
It will also serve as a valuable networking opportunity for agencies and a chance for the public to learn more about the range of services operating in the region.
Attendees will include Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue, South Western Ambulance Service, Dartmoor Rescue, Blood Bikes, Dartmoor National Park Rangers, Devon and Cornwall 4x4 Response, Vision Zero, Community Speed Watch, Police Dog Section, Police Cadets, Community Safety Partnership, Street Pastors, the RSPCA, and The Big Issue.
Additionally, a CCTV van and knife arch will be at the event, both of which belong to Devon and Cornwall Police.
The Policing Museum will also be open for visitors.
The police believe the collaborative event is a great opportunity for the public to gain a deeper understanding of how emergency services work together and to raise awareness of lesser-known organisations that play a vital role in community safety.
The idea for the Multi-Agency Day was developed by PCSO Debbie Hollinson, who said: “A great deal of work goes on in policing that the public often doesn’t see. Neighbourhood policing for example relies on strong partnership working which really comes into its own when we uncover what we might call ‘hidden harm’. These discoveries come from our day-to-day engagement duties of course, such as foot patrol, community drop-ins etc. There are also operations we run with partners outside the police and with colleagues inside the police and this event is the perfect way to display some of those operations and for the public to directly interact with us all in one place, on one day and see how it all links together.”
The event is free to attend and open to all members of the public.
