When visitors walk into the International Security Expo at London Olympia this September, they’ll find more than cutting-edge technology on display. At Stand C21, Plymouth-based Audax, pioneers of body-worn video since 2004, will be spotlighting a partnership that’s as heartwarming as it is impactful: their support for the military and emergency services charity, Hounds for Heroes.
Founded by Royal Navy veteran Allen Parton, Hounds for Heroes provides specially trained assistance dogs to injured and disabled members of the Armed Forces and emergency services. Each dog’s entire working life - training, care, and support - is fully funded by the charity, ensuring no financial strain falls on those who need them most.
For Audax Managing Director, Adam Liardet, the partnership strikes a deeply personal chord. A retired Army Officer who served in Northern Ireland and Bosnia with the Royal Green Jackets, Liardet understands first-hand the sacrifices service personnel make. “There are numerous veterans’ charities that talk the talk but organisations like Hounds for Heroes really do make an evidenced difference to the veterans they support,” he says. “It’s a real privilege to be able to support both Captain and Nobby.”
The human side of this partnership shines through in the bond between Captain, a red fox Labrador, and his beneficiary Nobby. Nobby’s career spanned more than a decade in the Army and 18 years in the Police. But life changed dramatically after treatment for a malignant tumour in his neck led to complications and brain damage, leaving him permanently in a wheelchair and unable to verbally communicate.
Enter Captain. This loyal assistance dog not only helps Nobby with daily tasks, granting him greater independence both at home and outdoors, but also provides constant companionship. For Nobby’s family, Captain offers something equally vital: peace of mind. They know he will always raise the alarm if something goes wrong.
While the company is best known for supplying world-leading body-worn cameras, trusted by UK and international police forces, councils, hospitals, airports, border security, and even nightclubs, Audax’s ethos goes beyond technology. As a veteran-owned company and recipient of the Armed Forces Covenant’s Gold Employer Recognition Award, supporting the service community is woven into its DNA.
This year, fundraising efforts from Liardet and the Audax team are helping ensure Captain’s ongoing care. It’s a partnership that underlines the company’s dual mission: protecting people through innovation, while honouring those who have already given so much in service.
Visitors to the International Security Expo can learn more about both the technology and the charity at Stand C21 from 30th September to 1st October 2025. Attendees can also enter the on-stand Hounds for Heroes competition for a chance to win a hamper packed with dog-friendly treats and goodies.
For Liardet, the partnership is more than corporate social responsibility; it’s about making a tangible difference.
