Tavistock crime thriller writer to appear at Plymouth Literary Festival

Terry Green

Tavistock-based crime thriller writer Terry Green is set to join a diverse line-up of authors at the Plymouth Literary Festival, a community celebration of literature taking place over Valentine’s weekend, 14 and 15 February, at the University of Plymouth.

As part of the festival’s two-day programme of talks, workshops, readings and panel discussions, Terry Green will share the twists, turns and unexpected detours of his life and career that led him to write a fast-paced crime thriller. His free author event will take place at 3pm on Saturday 14 February in the university’s Portland Square Building.

Terry said: “Buckle up for the ride to hear more about my first crime thriller, Redline, set in the glamorous, high-octane world of sports cars. Be prepared for humour, insight, and behind-the-scenes anecdotes as I talk about my passion for cars and the real-life inspirations behind the fictional world of my hero, Jake Elderfield.”

Crime fiction fans will find plenty more to enjoy across the festival programme. A Crime Writer Panel will bring together Devon-based authors Caroline Serpell and Stephanie Austin, bestselling author Helena Dixon, and crime writer Elizabeth Ducie. Chaired by Miranda Ramphul, the discussion will explore how writers build suspense, create compelling characters and plot the perfect murder.

Elsewhere, Jane Corry will chart her journey from writing romantic fiction for Woman’s Own to becoming a Sunday Times bestselling crime novelist. Plymouth-based author Louise Sharland will also lead a crime fiction workshop for both beginners and experienced writers. The workshop has already sold out, reflecting strong demand, but aspiring writers can still find inspiration at other sessions, including From Pen to Publication, a panel featuring Terri Nixon, Cathie Hartigan, Elizabeth Ducie, William Telford and David Sharp, chaired by Louise Sharland.

The Plymouth Literary Festival programme spans a wide range of genres, with events for readers and writers of all ages, as well as activities for children. The full programme is available at www.plymouthlitfest.co.uk/whats-on/.
