Local bus operator Stagecoach South West has announced a number of changes to services set to take effect across the region from August 31, including multiple alterations in Tavistock and Okehampton.
These alterations have been aimed at improving punctuality, providing better access to key destinations, and aligning services more closely with passenger demand.

Updated timetables and routes come following collaboration with Devon County Council and Plymouth City Council using funding from the Government’s Bus Service Improvement Plan, and are informed by feedback from customers, local communities, and stakeholders.
Service 1 (Plymouth to Tavistock) changes include:
- Minor timing changes to improve reliability and punctuality.
- Service 1 will no longer operate into the City Centre via North Road East and will instead operate a more direct route via North Hill and Queen Anne Terrace and provide improved access to University of Plymouth.
- There is no change to the route for journeys towards Tavistock.
The Service X1 (Plymouth / DHS Schools to Tavistock) is set to be axed:
- Service will be withdrawn and replaced by additional journeys on Service 1 at similar times.
- Alternative travel options are available for students travelling to DHS Schools, with details available directly from the schools.
The Service 118 (Tavistock to Okehampton):
- Minor timing changes to improve reliability and punctuality.
For Okehampton the Service 6 (Okehampton to Bude) is removed:
- 1805 Monday to Friday College Days Only journey from Okehampton to Bude will be withdrawn due to low demand.
The Service 317 (Bideford to Okehampton):
- 0700 Monday to Friday journey from Okehampton to Bideford will depart earlier at 0655.
- 0820 Monday to Friday Schooldays journey Bideford to Okehampton will depart earlier at 0810 and additionally serve Great Torrington School.
