Bus passengers travelling between Plymouth, Ivybridge and Paignton are set to benefit from a series of improvements to local services thanks to a partnership between Stagecoach South West, Devon County Council, Plymouth City Council and Torbay Council.
As part of the changes, the long-standing Service Gold has been renamed Service 80.
The route continues to run from Paignton Bus Station through Totnes, South Brent and Ivybridge to Plymouth City Centre.
However, it now has a simpler timetable, more regular services and extra journeys during the week and on Saturdays.

Buses will now run every 30 minutes, leaving on the hour and half past the hour for much of the day.
Passengers will also benefit from an earlier first bus and a new mid-evening service, providing more options for commuters, students and leisure travellers.
Peter Knight, Managing Director of Stagecoach South West, said: “We’re delighted to be working in partnership with Devon County Council, Plymouth City Council and Torbay Council to deliver these improvements for our passengers. By making services more regular and easier to use, we’re helping more people to access work, education, shopping and leisure opportunities while supporting more sustainable travel choices across the region.”
Councillor John Stephens, Plymouth City Council’s Cabinet Member for Strategic Planning and Transport, said the service is vital for rural residents as well as city commuters. “Living in rural areas can be difficult in terms of having efficient public transport and we are so pleased that we can continue offering this service to bus users, with new improvements on the way.”
Cllr Jacqi Hodgson, Devon County Council’s Cabinet Member for Climate Change and Biodiversity, said the changes showed what could be achieved through partnership working. “It highlights what we can achieve by working closely with our partners and it will make bus travel a much more convenient option for residents in Totnes, South Brent and Ivybridge.”
The improvements are part of wider investment in bus networks across the South West, including more sustainable fleets and more frequent journeys.
