'Landy' has gone off service after 17 years Credit- Tavistock Police
After 17 years of service, the familiar 4×4 used by Tavistock Police has retired from duty in West Devon.

In a post on social media, Tavistock Police announced:
“Today, after 17 years of service, the Tavistock Landy has gone off duty for the last time. It’s been a familiar sight on the West Devon roads and across Dartmoor, helping us reach the places that others couldn’t. Thank you for your service and happy retirement.”

The vehicle, affectionately dubbed “the Landy,” became a staple of local policing, crossing difficult terrain, accessing remote locations on Dartmoor and supporting West Devon communities.
Its retirement marks a shift in how patrols and response work may be conducted in the area.

Social media responses show how much the vehicle meant to local people.
