Four schools across Devon have either closed or delayed opening on Monday 5 January due to icy and adverse weather conditions.
Ashwater Primary School in Ashwater, Beaworthy, and Halwill Community Primary School in Halwill Junction have both introduced a late start of 10am to allow extra time for travel in icy conditions.
St Luke’s Church of England School in Exeter is fully closed for the day due to a heating failure affecting the school site.
At Uplowman Church of England Primary School near Tiverton, the Honeysuckle class is closed due to staffing issues relating to severe weather, while the rest of the school remains open.
Tavistock Primary and Nursery School won't be opening until at 10.30am due to icy conditions.
In addition to these closures, 12 schools across mid to north Devon have reported bus transport disruptions, with some routes running late due to ice. Parents are advised to check with their school or bus service for the latest travel information.
Devon remains under a Met Office yellow warning for snow and ice, which could disrupt travel from Sunday afternoon through Monday morning. The warning is in place until 12pm today.
The Met Office has said that while milder air will begin spreading eastwards from Tuesday, there is potential for further snow along the boundary between the cold and milder air masses, with strong winds possible later in the week.
Snow flurries have been reported across Dartmoor, including Princetown and surrounding areas.
