Storm Goretti is set to hit the UK on Thursday 8 January, with the potential for blizzard conditions on Dartmoor amid strong winds and a new yellow weather warning.
There is a risk of snow across Dartmoor and Exmoor from Thursday night into Friday morning, which could cause some disruption.

Accumulations of between 2cm and 5cm are expected above 200 metres, with up to 10cm possible on the highest ground of both moors.
UK Weather Chase told The Moorlander that weather models are changing frequently and advised the public to keep checking Met Office guidance, which is updated regularly.
They said that if snow falls on Dartmoor on Thursday evening, it is unlikely to settle for long, as rain is expected to move in by Friday morning. Rain, sleet and snow are forecast to gradually ease into Friday.
With strong winds also forecast, short-lived blizzard conditions are possible on higher ground.
Currently, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) have issued Amber cold weather health alerts for all regions of England until 11 January.
As Storm Goretti approaches, winds are expected to strengthen through Thursday afternoon, with the strongest spell during Thursday evening.
Peak gusts of 50-60mph are likely fairly widely, increasing to 60-70mph along exposed coasts and hills.
UK Weather Chase said coastal exposed areas could see winds of around 80mph.
Depending on the exact track of the storm, the Isles of Scilly and parts of south and west Cornwall could experience a short period of exceptionally strong north-westerly winds, with gusts potentially reaching 80-90mph.
Winds are expected to gradually ease through the early hours of Friday, with The Met Office noting: “Storm Goretti’s influence will wane on Friday evening as the system moves to the east of England. There will be a short-lived interlude of calmer weather for many on Saturday with rain showers easing, cloud for those in the east, and sunny spells possible elsewhere.”
Advice has been issued to those considering travelling in the harsh conditions.
RAC breakdown spokesperson Alice Simpson said: “In the areas worst affected by Storm Goretti, drivers need to be considering if it’s safe to get behind the wheel. As temperatures plummet, breakdowns rise, especially as older, less reliable batteries tend to fail more often in cold conditions.
