More than 200 bus drivers working across Dartmoor have been recognised for their driving standards and commitment to road safety.
A total of 220 Stagecoach South West drivers received ‘Fleet Elite’ status during 2025 from independent driver safety specialists GreenRoad.

The award is designed to recognise drivers who have consistently demonstrated safe and responsible driving over an extended period.
GreenRoad monitors driving behaviour using in-vehicle technology, assessing factors such as braking, acceleration and cornering.
Drivers who achieve strong safety scores over time are awarded the ‘Fleet Elite’ status.
Stagecoach South West said the recognition reflects a continued focus on passenger and driver safety across its Dartmoor routes.
Of the 220 drivers recognised, 76 local drivers reached GreenRoad’s highest levels, known as ‘Master’ and ‘Grand Master’ status.
These awards reflect between four and ten years of sustained safe and fuel-efficient driving, with some drivers achieving a perfect safety score during the year.
Stagecoach said the scheme helps reduce risk on the road and encourages high driving standards, benefiting passengers and other road users.
Peter Knight, Managing Director of Stagecoach South West, said the results showed the effort drivers put into their work every day.
“These are really impressive results that show how much effort our teams put in to ensure we run a safe and smooth bus service each and every day,” he said.
“As a bus operator, the safety of our staff and passengers is our number one priority, and I am extremely proud that so many of our drivers have been recognised for their driving excellence.”
Stagecoach South West operates bus services across Dartmoor and the wider South West, connecting rural communities with towns and services.
The company said recognising long-term safe driving helps promote a positive safety culture and supports reliable public transport in rural areas.
GreenRoad said its Fleet Elite programme is designed to encourage professional drivers to maintain high standards over time and to highlight the role drivers play in improving road safety.
Stagecoach South West said it will continue to work with GreenRoad to monitor performance and support drivers in maintaining safe driving standards across the Dartmoor area.
