Sunday road closures and lane restrictions
On Sunday, Billacombe Road (inbound) will see one lane closed outside number 188 between 9am and 2pm for frame and cover renewal works by BT.
Outland Road (inbound) will have a lane closure between numbers 208 and 228 from 8.30am to 3.30pm while tree pollarding is carried out by Teign Trees.
A full road closure will be in place on Pomphlett Road outside number 62 between 6am and 4pm for pole renewal works by BT.
A diversion will operate via Horn Cross Road, Stanborough Road, Elburton Road and Billacombe Road.
In the city centre, Royal Parade (westbound) will be closed overnight from 7pm to 6am from Sunday through to Saturday (February 28) as part of Plymouth City Council’s Royal Parade bus improvements scheme.
Major and longer-term works
Among the most significant schemes beginning this week is a major junction improvement project at Devonport Road/Ford Hill/Milehouse Road/Molesworth Road.
Four-way temporary signals will be in place 24 hours a day from Monday (February 23) through to May 22, manually controlled at peak times.
Hill Street will be closed at the Ebrington Street junction from Monday until March 3 for link box replacement works by National Grid.
Gas main replacement works by Wales and West Utilities will also begin on St Pancras Avenue from Monday, with two-way signals in place 24 hours a day until March 26.
From Thursday (February 26), Tavistock Road (inbound) will have its bus lane closed between William Prance Road and Charlton Road until April 9 as part of National Grid supply works.
Alternating lane closures will also affect William Prance Road at the Tavistock Road junction over the same period.
A38 and key route disruption
Drivers using the A38 are advised to take note of overnight closures between Leigham Interchange and Manadon Roundabout (westbound) from Tuesday to Thursday (February 24-26), between 7pm and 6am, for digital sign installation works by National Highways. Diversions will be in place via Forder Valley Road.
Additional overnight closures and ground investigations will affect Outland Road/Manadon and St Peters Road near Manadon Roundabout earlier in the week.
Widespread patching and maintenance
Throughout the week, Plymouth City Council will carry out patching, drainage and resurfacing works on roads including Barne Road, Boringdon Hill, Brandon Road, Eggbuckland Road, Ernesettle Lane, Foulston Avenue, Glen Road, Lynwood Avenue, Whiteford Road, Widey Lane, Clittaford Road, Mollison Road, Sutton Road, Castle Lane, Oakfield Terrace Road, South Milton Street and Underhill Road.
Many of these works will involve temporary two-way or three-way signals between 9.30am and 3pm, though some roads will be fully closed during working hours.
Advice for motorists
Motorists are advised to allow extra time for journeys, particularly at peak hours, and to follow signed diversion routes where closures are in place.
Access for residents and businesses will be maintained wherever possible, but delays are expected on some of the city’s busiest routes.
Further details on specific schemes and traffic management arrangements are available via Plymouth City Council and the relevant utility providers.
