Food lovers are in for a treat as Moretonhampstead Food & Drink Festival returns on Saturday 22nd August, bringing a fantastic day of local food, drink, entertainment and community spirit to the heart of the town.

Running from 10am to 4pm in Cross Street and The Square, the festival will showcase an exciting line-up of local producers, artisan food and drink businesses, street food vendors and community organisations. Visitors can enjoy everything from award-winning wines, spirits and cider to handmade cakes, doughnuts, fudge, chocolates, local meats, cheeses and international street food. There will also be face painting for children and live music throughout the day, making it a great day out for the whole family.

The festival is organised entirely by volunteers from Moretonhampstead Carnival, with all proceeds supporting the Carnival's local charities and helping to fund community activities throughout the year.

Travelling to the Festival

Visitors travelling via the A382 should be aware of the ongoing roadworks.

Devon County Council has advised the organisers that, if it is safe to do so and the works have progressed sufficiently, they intend to reopen the A382 using temporary traffic lights on the day of the festival. While this cannot be guaranteed, every effort is being made to minimise disruption.

If the works are not at a stage where this is possible, there are shorter alternative routes through the Teign Valley rather than following the full official diversion. However, visitors are strongly advised not to use the narrow backlanes in an attempt to avoid delays. These roads have experienced significant congestion during the roadworks and are unsuitable for large volumes of traffic, meaning you are unlikely to save much time.

The organisers encourage visitors to allow a little extra travel time and enjoy everything Moretonhampstead has to offer once they arrive. There is free parking available in the town, making it easy to spend the day exploring the festival, local shops, Art Gallery, pubs and cafés.

Festival organiser Sam Parkin said:

"We're really looking forward to welcoming visitors back for another fantastic Food & Drink Festival. We have an excellent selection of traders, plenty of delicious food and drink, live entertainment and a wonderful community atmosphere. We'd encourage everyone to come along, support local businesses and charities, and enjoy a great day out in Moretonhampstead. Although there are roadworks on the A382, we're hopeful disruption will be kept to a minimum and we look forward to welcoming visitors from across Devon."

The Moretonhampstead Food & Drink Festival takes place on Saturday 22nd August, from 10am until 4pm. Entry is free, parking is free, and everyone is welcome.
