Devon and Cornwall Police are appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage after a motorcyclist suffered serious injuries on the A386 near Yelverton on Friday afternoon

Police are appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage following a serious road traffic collision on the A386 near Yelverton which led to the road being closed for several hours on Friday afternoon.

Officers were called at around 12.30pm on Friday 5 June following reports of a collision involving a car and a motorcycle on the bend near the turning to Buckland Abbey.

A man in his 60s, the motorcycle rider, sustained serious injuries in the collision.

The A386 was closed in both directions while emergency services attended the scene and investigations were carried out.

Motorists travelling between Plymouth and Tavistock were affected by the delays, which saw vehicles diverted via the nearby Yelverton aerodrome.

During the incident, Devon and Cornwall Police's Traffic Watch service reported: "A386 both ways closed, queueing traffic due to accident from B3212 Dousland Road to Drake's Trail."

Devon County Council's traffic management service, Devon Alert, also advised drivers: "The A386 Yelverton is closed in both directions following a road traffic collision. Please find an alternative route and expect delays in this area."

In an appeal issued on Monday morning, Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Officers from the Roads Policing Team would like to thank the public for their patience whilst the road was closed."

Police are now asking anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have relevant dash-cam footage, to come forward.

Anyone with information which may assist the investigation is asked to contact police via their website or by calling 101, quoting log 297 of 5 June 2026.
