Get on your bike with an introduction to cycling in South Devon and Dartmoor

‘Novice’ or nervous cyclists will again have the chance to enjoy the sport with the second programme of the Mid-Devon CC’s Intro Rides this summer.

The scheme enjoyed a successful ‘debut’ in 2025, and the club has just announced its schedule of Saturday monthly rides for this year, starting next month.

All the rides, starting and finishing at MDCC headquarters at Abbrook (Kingsteignton), are guided by British Cycling qualified leaders.

They are designed to develop confidence in group and traffic riding at a sensible pace, building up to 20/25 miles and always including a cafe stop.

It’s intended that the programme will lead to membership of the club, and encourage riders to tackle the MDCC’s Dartmoor Classic ‘Piccolo’ route.

The full 2026 programme is: April 25 - to Moretonhampstead, May 16 – Buckfast Abbey, June 6 – Occombe Farm, June 27 – Red Post, July 18 – Torquay/Paignton, August 8 – ‘Old’ Dartmoor Classic Piccolo.
