Drivers using the key route between Tavistock and Plymouth are being warned of further overnight disruption as Devon County Council carries out planned patching work

Motorists travelling between Tavistock and Plymouth are being warned of another overnight closure on a key Dartmoor route this week.

The A386 between Grenofen Cross and Bedford Bridge at Grenofen will close from 7pm on Thursday, 10 September, until 7am on Friday, 11 September.

The latest closure follows previous overnight restrictions on the same stretch of road earlier this summer, when highway maintenance works were carried out.

This time, the closure is to allow planned patching work to take place.

A Temporary Traffic Regulation Order issued by Devon County Council states that the restriction will apply between 7pm and 7am, with no vehicles permitted to use the affected section of the A386 during those hours.

An official Devon County Council notice states the temporary restriction is “considered necessary to enable patching work”.

The affected section is the A386 road from Grenofen Cross to Bedford Bridge, Grenofen.

A signed diversion (pictured below) will be in place for drivers, using the B3212 and B3357 in both directions.

The previous closure in August was also carried out overnight and formed part of a programme of highway maintenance on the route.

That work included repairs to road surfaces and other safety-related maintenance, with drivers previously warned to expect disruption while the work was carried out.

The latest notice gives the contractor as M Group, with Devon County Council responsible for the road.

Drivers using the A386 between Tavistock and Plymouth are advised to allow extra time for their journeys and follow the signed diversion during the closure.

The road is due to reopen at 7am on Friday, 11 September.
