Devon is set to experience warmer weather this weekend as temperatures rise ahead of the summer solstice, according to the latest Met Office forecast.

The region will see a gradual increase in temperatures, reaching the mid-20s Celsius over the weekend, with the highest temperatures expected on Saturday.

While it won’t reach the extreme heat seen in central and eastern England, the warm air will bring a noticeable change from recent conditions.

However, the Met Office has issued an alert for possible thunderstorms, particularly from Friday afternoon onwards, as a trough of low pressure moves in from the Atlantic.

These showers and isolated storms could affect parts of Devon and surrounding areas, especially during the evening and overnight hours.

Saturday night could be one of the warmest of the year locally, with humid conditions making it feel particularly uncomfortable before cooler air begins to arrive on Sunday.

Temperatures are expected to dip slightly on Sunday as cloud cover increases and showers continue to move through.

Looking ahead to next week, the Met Office forecasts a shift to more changeable weather with increased chances of rain and breezy conditions, especially in northern and western parts of the UK.

Devon should expect drier spells with occasional showers but generally more variable weather.

Residents are advised to stay updated with local forecasts and be prepared for sudden changes, especially if planning outdoor activities this weekend.
