Okehampton Show makes a welcome return

After taking an enforced break last year due to the constraints of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 113th Okehampton Show returns to the Stoney Park Showground on Thursday, 12th August.

Traditionally it is the Show where animals take pride of place while promising fun and entertainment for everyone between 9am and 5pm.

Set on the northern edge of Okehampton, adjacent to the Holsworthy and Bude turn off (EX20 1SW), Dartmoor’s largest agricultural Show will once again parade a wide range of prize-winning animals, delicious local food & drink, plenty of varied crafts and trade stands, a live music stage providing entertainment for all ages with plenty to see and do throughout the day.

Agriculturally, over 60 classes will be judged in the equine categories including heavy horses, driving, unaffiliated show jumping and side saddle, complemented by a full range of other livestock classes including cattle, sheep, goats and pigs. Other competition entries include poultry, rabbits, bees, open and handicraft sections plus a parade of vintage vehicles.

The live music stage will feature local artists with this year’s star attractions, the locally based all-girl close-harmony trio The Hummingbirds.

Supporting the Show is your favourite fortnightly newspaper, The Moorlander, so come along and say ‘hello’ to our editorial team who will be delighted to welcome and chat with you. You’ll even be able to buy the latest edition at a SPECIAL SHOW PRICE too!

The Okehampton Show is a great day out and always well worth a visit, even more so now that lockdown restrictions have finally been eased and we can at last get out and about! Dogs are welcome – and there’s free car parking.
