Mike Nendick the DPNA communications officer said: “It is important to remember that Dartmoor is not just a playground, it is a place of work and home to many.
So by all means enjoy Dartmoor, but please use your common sense.” DNPA has issued simple winter guidelines.
- Heed warnings and advice from officials. Monitor weather reports on local media.
- Do not obstruct gateways for fields; farmers need to check their livestock.• Keep dogs under control at all times
- Take adequate warm clothing, a shovel, blankets, food and a hot drink. Weather conditions on Dartmoor can change rapidly.• Use the official car parks and lay-bys for parking.• Do not leave unattended vehicles on verges as this could block access for emergency vehicles.
- Should there be heavy snowfall and road closures please do not drive beyond the ‘Road Closed’ signs
