Penny Simpson the well-known ceramicist who lives on Dartmoor is to hold another ‘Soup for Syria’ in Moretonhampstead in the Community Club on 21st April from 12.00 to 2pm.

The last ‘Soup for Syria’ event she held last year raised over one thousand pounds. “The Community Club is better able to cope with the numbers than my studio, people can sit down more comfortably” said Penny.

Penny and her apprentice will be making a 100 bowls for the event. A bowl of soup with cheese and bread will cost £12.00 but you get to keep the bowl. Any money raised is going to ‘Home From Home’ a local group who, under a government backed scheme, plan to help a Syrian family resettle in Moretonhampstead.

Launceston Refugee support group is also raising funds with the aim of bringing at least one Syrian refugee family to live in Launceston during the summer as part of the government’s pledge to resettle vulnerable refugees in the UK.
