Jade Oliver-Deacon from The Toy Shop in Red Lion Yard, Okehampton has spent the month of October raising money for the Hospicecare in Exeter, who provided end of life care for her mum Gilly.

Jade invited all of her suppliers to donate a toy, book or game to her fundraiser and 100% of the proceeds raised will go directly to the Hospice.
Gilly used to work in the toy shop with Jade and sadly lost her battle with pancreatic cancer on 5th November last year.

Jade said: “She was lucky enough to get a place in the Exeter hospice who provided her with end of life care and who supported me at the very end of her life.”

Jade’s initial target was to try and raise £500, but as of Monday 26th October, the total raised was just over £1,000! Jade continued: “This has only been possible by the generosity of my suppliers and from our customers who have wanted to support such a worthy cause, by purchasing one of the donated items. I want to thank everyone that has helped me reach the target and completely smash it! We still have items for sale in the shop, so it’s not too late to support the cause. Come in to The Toy Shop and see what we have – we look forward to seeing you soon.”
