Brixham sea anglers had a great day out on Spot On charters, finding plenty of medium-sized Pollack from the wrecks.
Brixham SAC also held their Breakwater to Berry Head barbecue match on Saturday with Michael Head taking the prize of a spinning rod for a bull huss of 6lbs 12oz. Harvey Cockram of Teignmouth SAS fished a solo session to land a bull huss of 10lbs 4oz.
Members of Honiton Sac have been fishing both North and South coasts, with the group fishing out of Minehead finding plenty of mackerel, which gave them fresh bait for the rays, where many were caught with the best being a blonde ray to Paul Salmon tipping the scales at 17lbs.
On the south coast fishing aboard Stuart Pike’s boat Orca out of Beer, Ben Peek landed a beautiful red gurnard, while Scott Clarke targeted the rays and topped his catch with a fine Undulate Ray.
I must also mention junior Jack Squance, who was fishing with his dad from an undisclosed beach and landed his first gilthead bream.
Entries are now being taken for the July fish of the Month competition kindly sponsored by Sidewinder Lures and Newbarn Angling Centre. June’s result will be announced next week.
