Famous night for Okehampton Argyle

The Okes defeat Exeter City

Okehampton Argyle set the platform for a new season in the South-West Peninsula League with an excellent 2-1 victory over a youthful Exeter City side at Simmons Park.

The Grecians grabbed an early advantage, when a City forward scored on the rebound but the Okes responded with a spell of sustained pressure, forcing Harry Lee into a succession of top saves in the Exeter goal.

The game was full of entertaining football, both sides creating chances at will, and the Okes got their deserved equaliser when Luke Mortimore scored from close range. Victory was sealed in front of over 500 fans when Alex Gray struck home a sweet volley to complete a great night.
