A yellow weather warning for rain is in place for Torbay and much of South West England from 06:00 on Saturday through to 23:59 and again on Monday 1 December.
According to guidance from the national weather-warning system, a yellow alert indicates that “severe weather is possible” and calls for vigilance, with the weather threatening travel disruption, flooding and possible localised power outages.
Spray and flooding on roads may make journey times longer.
Bus and train services are likely to be affected - with potential cancellations where flooding occurs.
Small risk that communities may become cut off by flooded roads.
There is also a slight chance of power cuts or disruption to services in affected areas.
Authorities advise checking travel plans before setting off, avoiding flooded roads, and allowing extra time for journeys if venturing out. It is also worth ensuring property - especially drainage or low-lying areas - is secure ahead of heavy rain.
Emergency services may be called upon if flood water rises rapidly.
The warning comes at a time when ground in many areas is already saturated from recent rainfall, increasing the risk of surface water flooding and making conditions more hazardous.
