These were Torbay’s top headlines from June 2025, a month that saw history arrive in the harbour and major moments unfold across the Bay.
History quite literally sailed into Torbay in June with the arrival of the Nao Victoria, a faithful replica of the ship that completed the world’s first circumnavigation more than 500 years ago. Docked at Haldon Pier, the striking vessel drew crowds keen to step aboard a floating chapter of maritime history.
And it wasn’t all about stone and steel - June also saw Torbay’s business community take centre stage at the Torbay Weekly Naturally Inspiring Business Awards 2025. Nearly 350 guests packed the Riviera International Centre for the Bay’s biggest awards night yet, celebrating enterprise alongside community champions.
Elsewhere, the long-awaited opening of Arena Torquay marked a major moment for the local live entertainment scene, while the town centre said goodbye to a familiar name as Bettesworths announced it would be leaving its Torquay home after more than 50 years.
