American fast-food chain Wendy's will open its first Exeter restaurant on Thursday, 26 February, bringing a new drive-thru offering to Alphington Park.
The new site, located on Alphington Road, occupies the former Chiquito unit which has stood vacant since 2020.
In recent weeks, branded red-and-white signage has been installed above the entrance, signalling the completion of refurbishment works at the long-empty premises.
Doors are set to open at 10:30am, with the first 100 customers arriving before that time promised a free Wendy’s Single burger as part of launch day celebrations.

The restaurant will feature a drive-thru lane, reflecting the brand’s historic association with the format, and will serve Wendy’s core menu including its square beef burgers, Baconator, Chicken Biggie Bag Meal and Frosty desserts.
Michael Clarke, Managing Director, Europe for The Wendy’s Company, said the opening marks another step in the company’s UK expansion. Franchise partner Farhat Abbas added that the launch will create new jobs and establish Wendy’s as part of the local community.
Founded in Ohio in 1969, Wendy’s is one of the world’s largest quick-service restaurant brands and has been steadily increasing its presence across the UK, including in the South West.
The Exeter opening will see Wendy’s join existing food outlets at Alphington Park, alongside KFC, Starbucks and Nando's, further strengthening the retail park’s position as a key dining destination for the city.
