Leo McMenamin, Coby Allcorn and Marley Barnes and Bideford ABC team
Bideford Amateur Boxing Club produced four Western Counties champions after a brilliant in the ring, as Leo McMenamin, Coby Allcorn and Marley Barnes all boxed for the junior titles in Barnstaple.
Leo McMenamin put in a career-best performance, stopping Jay Cieslak from Mackenzie’s ABC. McMenamin dominated the early stages using good footwork and straight punches. By the third round, the ref had seen enough after giving Cieslak two standing counts from left crosses and waved the fight off.
Coby Allcorn dominated against Archie Killone from Devonport. Allcorn worked well behind the jab and forced a standing count against Killone in the third round from a fierce combination before earning the unanimous points win.
Marley Barnes met a tall tricky southpaw in Calib Beckles from Devonport. After a scrappy first round, Barnes had found his range and began roughing Beckles up with strong body shots. Barnes’ dominance continued in the last as he kept the pressure on outworking Beckles throughout to earn the unanimous points win.
Dylan Burston defended his Western Counties elite belt in Bath against Harvey James from Roman boxing club. It was level pegging after two rounds, Burston landing the bigger shots but the workrate was with James. Burston needed a big last round and delivered, putting the pressure on James, showing great punch output and variation to win the last round and earn the split points win.
