Exeter Community Initiatives has announced the return of the Exeter Volunteer Fair, taking place on Thursday 23 April 2026 from 11am to 2pm at Exeter Cathedral.

The free drop-in event will bring together 75 local charities and community organisations, giving residents the opportunity to explore hundreds of volunteering roles in one place. With more than 800 people expected to attend, the fair is the largest volunteering event of its kind in Exeter.

Whether people have a few hours to spare or are looking for longer-term opportunities, the Volunteer Fair helps match skills, interests and availability with local causes. The event is open and welcoming to everyone, including students from the University of Exeter and Exeter College, families, retirees and individuals from all backgrounds.

Ellie Taylor, CEO of Exeter Community Initiatives, said: “Volunteering is a powerful way to connect with your community. This fair makes it easy for people to find opportunities that fit their lives and passions, whatever their experience or background.”

Visitors can drop in at any time during the event and no previous volunteering experience is required.

Organisations are also invited to book stalls at the fair. Due to high demand, Exeter Community Initiatives is encouraging charities and community groups to register early to secure a place and ensure a wide range of organisations are represented.

The event is supported by IT Champion, which has provided financial backing to help deliver the fair. The organisation said its support reflects the important role played by Exeter’s charity and voluntary sector and will benefit all organisations taking part.

The Exeter Volunteer Fair aims to inspire more people to get involved in community activity while helping local organisations connect with potential volunteers.
