The A361 North Devon Link Road has been closed in both directions following a road traffic collision this afternoon.

The closure was reported by Devon Alert, the county council's emergency planning service, which stated that police have shut the road between Landkey and Aller Cross.

Traffic monitoring service Inrix has described the incident as a "serious accident" and reports that traffic is very slow between Blakes Hill Road (Landkey) and the A399 (Aller Cross, South Molton).

Significant delays

Motorists are being advised to allow extra time for their journeys and to avoid the area if possible.

The A361 is the main arterial route for North Devon, and the closure is expected to cause significant congestion on surrounding local roads, particularly through the villages of Swimbridge and Landkey, as drivers attempt to find alternative routes.
