Birdsong inspired concert by two top musicians will blend folk with nature

Highly regarded viola and fiddle player Miranda Rutter will be showcasing her latest works based on birdsong with Rob Harbron at a special concert later this April.

Music lovers are invited to an enchanting evening of live music as acclaimed viola and fiddle player Miranda Rutter performs alongside celebrated concertina player Rob Harbron.

The concert at Alwington Village Hall on Saturday, April 25 will showcase material from Miranda’s latest album, Bird Tunes, a collection inspired by the birdsong of her local woodland.

Blending folk traditions with evocative, nature-inspired melodies, the 7.30pm performance promises a rich and immersive listening experience, capturing the beauty and spontaneity of the natural world.

Miranda is widely respected for her expressive and versatile playing, seamlessly moving between viola and fiddle. Her collaboration with Rob Harbron - one of the UK’s leading concertina players - creates a distinctive and compelling musical partnership.

Their concert set is intended to reflect both the tranquillity and vitality of birdsong, offering audiences a rare opportunity to hear these intricate compositions performed live in an intimate setting.

Miranda Rutter will lead a workshop at the venue at 2pm for instrumentalists, teaching tunes from the album.

This hands-on session offers a unique opportunity for musicians to learn directly from the artist, gaining insight into her compositions and the inspiration behind them.
