Businesses, educators and digital leaders from across the region will gather next month for a major conference focused on skills, innovation and the future workforce.

Hosted by Exeter-based Tech South West, the South West Digital Conference aims to give small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) practical tools to boost productivity, resilience and growth in an increasingly digital economy.

Supported by Microsoft, the South West Institute of Technology (SWIOT) and Acronyms, the event will bring together businesses, students and industry experts for a full day of hands-on workshops, keynote talks and networking, running from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Organisers say the focus is firmly on “real-world” learning, with sessions designed to be accessible and relevant to organisations of all sizes and sectors.

The programme includes keynote panels exploring the future of work and regional opportunities, alongside five dedicated workshop tracks. Topics range from artificial intelligence and cyber security to digital skills, talent development and business software solutions.

Interactive sessions will cover everything from using AI to streamline everyday tasks to understanding cyber risks and building stronger digital capabilities. Workshops aimed at young people will also highlight transferable “human skills” and career opportunities within the tech sector.

The conference, on 6 May 2026 at the University of Plymouth, is designed with SMEs in mind, helping businesses better understand how automation and digital tools are reshaping jobs while offering opportunities to connect with future talent.

Previous attendees have praised the event for its practical approach, with one describing it as “one of the most useful digital events” they had attended.

Organisers say the 2026 event will place an even greater emphasis on actionable insights and measurable outcomes for businesses across the region.
