The company behind Bovey Castle has recorded a boost in profits to £27.9million.

The Rigby Group, which owns Bovey Castle, Exeter Airport, Capital Air Ambulance and British International Helicopters, has just published its annual results which are the best in the Group’s 42-year history. It has recorded revenue of £2.17bn up 21.2% year-on-year. Earnings (EBITDA) of £57million, up 5.8% year-on-year.

Group pre-tax profit of £27.9million is up 22% year-on-year with net assets of £286.2million. Steven Rigby, Group Chief Operating Officer, said: “Our South West operations which span airports, aviation and luxury hotels, continue to make a significant contribution to the group. “Bovey Castle Hotel on Dartmoor is the largest of our nine luxury country house hotels that make up the group’s Eden Hotel Collection, and its flagship. Since acquiring Bovey Castle in 2014 we have carried out a major investment programme which was completed in the spring.

“This has seen the hotel’s bedroom stock, public rooms and spa entirely refurbished. AA 5 star recognition is testament to the quality on offer at Bovey, which now accounts for 40% of the group’s hotel trading performance.”

Bovey Castle is the flagship hotel in the Eden Hotel Collection, which currently owns or operates eight luxury hotels in the Midlands, the Cotswolds and South West.
