Bovey Castle launches Olympics-themed afternoon tea and activities

The wonderful creations on offer

Bovey Castle, a luxury five-star hotel located near Moretonhampstead, is celebrating the upcoming Olympics in Paris with a special culinary offering. The hotel is introducing an Olympics-themed afternoon tea, available to guests and visitors from July 26 to August 31, aligning with the duration of the multi-sport event.

The exclusive afternoon tea menu features a variety of internationally inspired items. In homage to France, guests can enjoy a Smoked Salmon and Sour Cream Crêpe and a Croque Monsieur. The sandwich selection also pays tribute to previous Olympic hosts with options like Roast Beef and Horseradish (England 2012), Barbeque Chicken and Avocado (Brazil 2016), Smoked Salmon with Soy Sauce (Japan 2020), and Hoisin Smoked Duck (China 2022). For those with a sweet tooth, desserts include a Gold Medal Macaroon, a Union Jack-themed Battenburg, and an Olympic Flame with Strawberry Butter Cream.

Priced at £45, this themed afternoon tea promises to be a unique culinary experience that celebrates the spirit of the Olympics.

In addition to the afternoon tea, Bovey Castle offers Olympics-themed breaks, providing guests with the opportunity to participate in archery, golf, air rifle shooting, tennis, and cycling. These activities, which are part of the Olympics and Paralympics, are included in stays at the resort’s luxury three-bedroom lodges for a minimum of two nights until August 31.

Dean Gunston, General Manager at Bovey Castle, emphasised the significance of the Olympics and Paralympics, stating: “The Olympics and Paralympics capture the imagination like no other sports events on the planet. Millions around the world tune in, despite the time difference, which says a lot about the sports action on offer. With everything that is going on at the moment, never has the Olympic Movement - and its bid to build a peaceful, better world by educating youth through sport - been more important.”

Gunston highlighted the creativity and effort put into the new afternoon tea by Executive Head Chef Mark Budd and his team. He added: “Our Executive Head Chef Mark Budd, along with his team, have tapped into their creative sides to deliver a vibrant and delicious menu that tips a cap to the events in Paris. We think it’s a really nice follow-on from our Olympics-themed breaks which have been incredibly popular with holidaymakers looking for a sporty yet relaxing stay.”
