Lilac Ladies
Superb perfromance from Oke golfers
Okehampton Golf Club is looking forward to a semi-final in the County President’s Trophy in September after a terrific semi-final victory over Staddon Heights.
In a match played at Yelverton Golf Club, the Lilac Ladies of Okehampton put together some delightful golf on the day and thoroughly deserved their progress to the last four of a prestigious competition.
This success comes hot on the heels of another victory for the Lilac Ladies, who were triumphant in the Western Morning News Cup earlier this month. Sue Stanbury and Penny Deakin lifted the trophy for Okehampton, in a competition played on their home course and with over 70 talented golfers taking part.
The busy work of Okehampton GC has also seen a tremendous figure of £3,167.50 raised by Geoff and Anne Fidler for the Oncoly Department and RD & E Hospital in Exeter.
Okehampton hosted the event for an enthusiastic army of volunteers, sponsors and participants, with the hard work of Geoff and Anne in organising the day ensuring everyone had a wonderful time, and best of all, a healthy donation can now go into the coffers at RD & E.
Club captain Gary Carey has also been active in the fundraising department, compiling £2,500 for the British Heart Foundation on his Captain’s Day.
