Season going well for Ilsington Villa
Ilsington Villa kept their impressive start to the season going with a 3-0 home win over Newton 66, which sees them level on points with Morley Rangers at the top of the WBW South Devon League Premier Division with a game in hand.
Four wins from four matches, including a 2-1 victory at Plymouth side Morley seven days before, is a great return in their first-ever tilt at Premier level.
And Anthony Lacey’s side also inflicted a first defeat on Newton 66.
Dan Langford gave them a first-half lead at Lewthorne Cross, before goalkeeper Matt Dardis pulled off a key penalty save to keep Villa in front.
Matt Warman added more goals either side of half-time, with 66 also having Luke Snell sent off in the second half.
Villa’s rivalry with Morley, who were promoted with them last season, will carry on this Saturday when the teams meet again at Islington, this time in the second round of the Devon Premier Cup (2pm).
