Okes rugby triumph
Okehampton RFC enjoyed a winning double on the weekend, as the first-team triumphed at Weston-super-Mare ad the 2nds defeated Tiverton.
The Okes were outstanding at Weston, winning 41-10 and Head Coach Matt Tichias was understandably delighted with his troops.
“The cliché of a game of two halves couldn’t have been more fitting around this game, getting off to the worst possible start by conceding in the opening and struggling to put phases together when we had the ball,” said Tichias.
“Despite having some opportunities that should have been finished, we were left with a very frustrated feeling in the changing room at half-time.
‘The second half was a display we could be proud of and will look to use as the platform going into the next week at home against St Austell.
‘We scored early, kicked a couple of penalties to open the scores between us and from then on, the ball was sticking and all areas of the game functioning, which allowed us to claim a bonus point win.
‘A special mention to Leon Horn, who was making his 50th first-team appearance and managed to bag himself a hat-trick with an all-round performance.”
