Farm businesses in West Devon and the South Hams are urged to seize the last opportunity to enrol in the Agri Innovation programme, offering crucial support for implementing regenerative farming practices.

This initiative aims not only to enhance the local environment but also to explore innovative opportunities and trial new technologies, providing farmers with a pathway to increased productivity and sustainability.

The programme, funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and facilitated by Business Information Point (BIP), is set to support a total of 20 farms in both the South Hams and West Devon regions.

With over half of the available spaces already claimed, the final round of expression of interest applications remains open until Wednesday, January 31.

Councillor Rufus Gilbert, Cabinet Member for Economic Recovery and Skills, expressed enthusiasm for the program, stating, "There has already been a healthy amount of interest in the programme with less than half the places on the scheme remaining. The program is looking for farmers who are enthusiastic about implementing innovative ideas and methods, as well as trialling new equipment and processes."

Farmers across all types and sizes are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity, with the support being entirely free for those in the South Hams or West Devon local authority areas. Councillor Gilbert has encouraged interested parties to register early.

Each farm business enrolled in the Agri Innovation programme stands to gain up to 30 hours of personalised support, including carbon audits, innovation diagnostics, and assistance with grant applications.

Additionally, they can receive specialist support valued at up to £2,000 to implement their innovation business plan, covering areas such as soil testing, technology trials, exploring renewable energy options, bid writing, and more.

Farm businesses keen on accessing this support are invited to complete the expression of interest form available on the BIP website before the January 31 deadline.
