Areas including Plymouth, Gunnislake, Morwellham Quay, and Calstock have recived alerts
Residents in Plymouth and surrounding areas have been issued a flood alert as high spring tides, combined with low pressure and moderate southerly winds, pose a risk of flooding to quay sides and low-lying coastal areas.
The alert, issued by local authorities, covers areas including Gunnislake, Morwellham Quay, and Calstock. Flooding is possible over several high tide periods, starting from Friday, February 9, and continuing through Tuesday, February 13.
High water at Plymouth is expected at 17.42pm on Friday 9 and at 05.58am and 18.28pm on Saturday 10, with varying times along the coast. Tides are forecasted to be up to 0.5 metres higher than predicted due to weather conditions.
Detailed tidal information has been provided for those who require it. On Friday afternoon, the forecast high tide level at Plymouth is 2.67 metres AOD, which is 0.56 metres above the astronomical tide level. On Saturday morning, the forecast high tide level is 2.98 metres AOD, 0.50 metres above the astronomical tide level.
